Methodology & disclaimer
What Cashloud is, what it uses, and what it is not.
Not investment advice.
Cashloud is an educational decision helper. It is not investment, tax, or legal advice,
and not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or cryptoasset. Markets can lose money.
Do your own research.
What we show
- Prices and percent moves from open market APIs (CoinGecko for major crypto, Yahoo quotes for equities/proxies).
- Headline titles and links only from open RSS / public pages — we do not republish full article text.
- SEC EDGAR filings for U.S. equities when available (filing-first ranking). Known ETFs skip filing-first and use market/sector framing.
- Optional FRED rates (DGS10 / FEDFUNDS) when an API key is configured; otherwise a Yahoo 10Y proxy.
- Fear & Greed (alternative.me) and VIX as regime context.
How ranking works
- Impact (high / medium / low) blends absolute price move with headline count weighted by source quality.
- ETFs use tighter move thresholds (a 1% SPY day matters more than 1% on a single name).
- Quiet mode adjusts thresholds using VIX (stricter crypto alerts in risk-off; less chatter weight in risk-on).
- Conflicts flag when headline tone and price disagree, or sources split.
- “What changed” / delta compares to the previous brief snapshot for the same watchlist.
- Ripples suggest related names when a ticker is hot — illustrative, not a graph of causation.
- Quiet digests: if nothing material overnight, email can be a short note (or skipped) instead of a full brief.
What we store
- Email address, watchlist tickers (max 12), optional timezone and preferred local send hour — only to deliver digests.
- Double opt-in: new signups must confirm via a signed link before digests start.
- No passwords. We do not sell email lists.
- Unsubscribe and watchlist manage links are signed; you can leave anytime.
- Digests aim for your local send hour (run the sender hourly in production).
What we don’t do
- We don’t scrape or email full news articles.
- We don’t claim completeness, real-time perfection, or regulatory approval.
- FRED® data (when used) is via the FRED API and is not endorsed or certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
- We don’t provide personalized financial advice under any professional license.
